Virtual Instructor Led

As an online professor for 15 years, I've designed a lot of courses. Some of those courses I taught myself, others I didn't. The select samples in this portfolio represent both a course I designed but didn't teach at the University level and an evergreen course where I created the components for someone else's course as an expert consultant in learning design. More samples of other specific types of courses can be provided upon request.

Evergreen Course on Building Course Content

I was responsible for 3 modules in an 11 module course. The topics I covered were which type of course is right for you, how-to create your evergreen course, and where to host.

What I was given: a list of the general topics to cover and access to the client's Learning Management System (LMS).

What I did: In the video, you'll see a walkthrough of my process. The course outline, a sample video, and a sample workbook are also linked out below.

Technical Writing for University of Arizona

This course was a re-design of an existing Technical Writing course that required updating after being put forward as a General Education course. This came with a list of new outcomes that the course needed to meet.

What I was given: The new outcomes and materials I had co-created from previous iterations of the course.

What I did: In the video, you'll see a walkthrough of the new course. I've also linked out to the outcomes I needed to integrate into the learning activities. The big changes came in the form of shifting the signature assignment to focus on

*Note: I was a subject matter expert on this course; however, I did not teach this course at this institution and so was designing the course for others to teach.
